Travel & Schedule
• Regional Play: Most games are held within the local North Carolina region to minimize travel time for families.
• Play Dates: Instead of a traditional league schedule, the Academy participates in NCYSA Play Dates, often involving two shorter games in one day. Expected number of games per season 4-8. We also try to participate in minimum 1 tournament per season.
• Consistency: Practices are typically held twice a week at our home fields in Alamance County.
Game Format & Philosophy
• Development Focus: Scoreboards and standings are not kept, ensuring the focus remains on player improvement and creativity.
• Fair Playing Time: Coaches strive to provide balanced playing time for all participants to support their growth.
• NCYSA Standards: Games follow small-sided formats (5v5 or 7v7) to maximize touches on the ball.
Parent Commitment
• Supportive Sidelines: We maintain a positive environment; parents are encouraged to cheer for all players and respect coaching decisions.
• Communication: Schedule updates and field changes are communicated promptly via our team app.
Our Classic Teams represent the competitive pinnacle of the Alamance Aztecs, designed for athletes who demonstrate a high level of skill, commitment, and a desire to compete at a statewide level.
The Classic program operates in strict accordance with the NCYSA Classic League rules and regulations, ensuring a structured and highly competitive environment:
• Promotion & Relegation: Following NCYSA standards, our teams compete in a promotion and relegation system (Premier, First, Second, and Third divisions) to ensure matches remain competitive and challenging.
• Certified Match Officials: All Classic matches are officiated by NCYSA-certified referees, upholding the official Laws of the Game.
• Statewide Travel: Unlike the Academy level, Classic teams travel across the state for away matches, providing players exposure to diverse playing styles and top-tier talent.
• Roster & Carding: All players and coaches are formally carded through NCYSA, adhering to strict eligibility, age-grouping, and safety requirements.
• Tournament Participation: Teams typically compete in a minimum of 1 tournament per season
The Path to Excellence
The Classic level is for players dedicated to tactical mastery and physical conditioning. Our coaching staff focuses on advanced systems of play, preparing athletes for high school and collegiate-level soccer while maintaining the Aztec core values of integrity and sportsmanship.
